:pushing progress Winter Intensive

Overview
Continuing in the footsteps of the :pushing progress educational programs, the Winter Intensive is an opportunity for dancers to further explore the artist within and continue, mastering their most vital expressive instrument: the human body.
In one workshop, :pushing progress brings together not only contemporary ideas in training and movement, but also a combination of basic anatomy and science of the mind. The Winter Intensive provides a disciplined and positive environment for any dancer to nurture their personal and professional growth.
The Day
Duration of the workshops is 7 - 8 hours of training daily over 3 days.
Focus: Technique/Movement Exploration/Artistic Language/Self Assessment, through classes in Ballet, Contemporary, Improvisation, Choreography, Anatomy, and :pushing progress repertoire.
About Our Faculty
The :pushing progress faculty is a a versatile collective of experienced industry professionals who provide individual expertise in tools that enhance every dancer’s approach to movement and body awareness. With staff credits such as New York City Dance Alliance, 24/7 Dance Convention, DMA, Broadway Dance Center, Steps on Broadway and Peridance, :pushing progress faculty have taught nationally and internationally in Canada, Mexico, and throughout Europe. They hold certifications in GYROKINESIS®, ABT® National Training Curriculum and have a variety of professional performance and choreography credits ranging from So You Think You Can Dance and live performance with artists such as Rihanna and Beyonce, to company performances with the Lepzig and Berlin Opera. While each member of our faculty brings a unique perspective and expertise to the team, each faculty member is linked by an intelligent and informed approach to instruction that utilizes strength and technical proficiency paired with a heightened awareness of one’s artistry. As a collective, our faculty strives to educate dancers on how to translate technical training into an understanding of the most efficient use of the mechanism of their body. Through the versatile backgrounds and expertise of our faculty, we offer dancers a well-rounded approach to dance and introduce a wide range of training techniques, including the GYROTONIC® methodology, a basic knowledge of anatomy, and classical ballet. We strongly believe that with these tools, dancers can approach movement smartly and efficiently in order to achieve their fullest potential as technicians and as artists. With a united approach, our faculty give dancers a cohesive experience that also highlights each teacher’s unique perspective on the valuable information that will be shared throughout each class.
