Monday October 10th, 10:30 am - 3:00 pm

Call for Male and Female dancers:

Looking for male and female dancers of strong technical and athletic ability.  Must be well versed in ballet, modern, and contemporary movement.

Dancers will be working with :pushing progress Director Calen J. Kurka on new work to be submitted for APAP, as well as future performances and showcases in and around the New York area.  Definite performances in May at the :pushing progress Annual Showcase Series. 

Registration:

All dancers must Pre-Register by emailing info@pushingprogress.com with the subject header “AUDITION”.  Please include your name, phone number, Headshot, Resume, and brief Bio.

An email will then be sent prior to the audition confirming your registration and the audition location.

Included in Audition:

Please come warm and prepared to start with a movement combination.  A brief  ballet barre and center work is also to be expected as well as improvisation.

About the work:

The work of Calen J. Kurka is considered highly athletic and of a new energy.  Combining contemporary dance with the improvement and education of oneself, the work is both noetic, and emotionally charged with a focus on breaking boundaries and finding new perspective on movement and the challenges that bind us to our own bodies.  It is a process determined to find artistic style and beauty through technique, the strength of intention, and trust of one’s energetic self.
